My story
From building sites to better mortgages
I spent over a decade in the construction and building maintenance industry, seven of those years running my own service business right here in Taranaki. I worked on new builds, renovations, and commercial maintenance projects across the region. I know the industry, I know the region, and I know what it's like to run a business and try to get ahead financially.
When I started looking seriously at growing my own wealth through property, I realised how complex the mortgage process could be, especially for someone with a self-employed income. I wanted to find someone who genuinely understood my situation, not just a bank employee ticking boxes.
That experience is what led me to become a mortgage adviser. I wanted to be the person I wished I'd had, someone who gives straight answers, understands how business income works, and genuinely wants to see clients build lasting wealth.
I'm now part of the Guardian Smith team, one of New Zealand's most respected mortgage brokerage networks, giving me access to all major NZ lenders while letting me serve clients with the personal, local approach that a big bank never can.
